Italian Cultural Institute, together with THY LAB are happy to present concerts in Hong Kong and Macau by Autonomia Tonale Zero, featuring Daniele Di Pentima, Riccardo Di Fiandra, and Luigi Di Chiappari.
The performance begins with simple themes and melodies inspired by folk and classical traditions. Drawing on jazz improvisational practices, the trio develops these materials collectively, allowing each piece to unfold spontaneously and take on a unique, open form in the moment. Rather than following a fixed sequence of themes and individual solos, the ensemble treats every composition as a shared field of action. Melodic cells, rhythmic cycles, textures and silences are continuously redistributed among the three instruments, so that form is generated through interaction, memory and real-time decision-making.

About Autonomia Tonale Zero
Autonomia Tonale Zero is a Rome-based trio featuring Daniele Di Pentima on drums, Riccardo Di Fiandra on electric bass, and Luigi Di Chiappari on piano. The project explores contemporary music and improvisation through a transcultural approach, in which the Western jazz language enters into dialogue with influences drawn from Hindustani classical music. From this tradition, the trio draws primarily on a cyclical and fluid conception of time, an emphasis on the gradual development of musical material, and an understanding of improvisation as a process of transformation and mutual listening.
Ostinatos, shifting metres, lyrical passages, and moments of free improvisation give rise to a strongly narrative musical language, in which rhythmic and timbral exploration becomes a defining aesthetic principle. In 2021, the group released -1/12, an album comprising eight compositions in which written material and improvisation coexist in a constantly shifting balance. Each performance emerges as an autonomous and unrepeatable form, continuously open to the possibility of change.
