Dante Alighieri Society Hong Kong, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, welcome all of you to join this special event for the centenary of Italo Calvino (1923-1985), one of the most important Italian writers of the late 20th century.
The influence of his fantastic novels and stories reached far beyond the Mediterranean, also inspiring Hong Kong local authors.
To celebrate his inheritance, we are looking forward to welcoming and hosting Dung Kai-Cheung, Hong Kong fiction writer, playwright, and essayist. Italo Calvino has been a major source of inspiration for him since he first started writing, up to now. He will tell us more about Calvino’s influence on his works and on the Hong Kong literature. We are also more than happy to welcome back our former Vice-President and writer, Angelo Paratico, to conduct this brilliant exchange and talk with Dung Kai-Cheung.
This event is one of the many initiatives launched to celebrate the XXIII Week of the Italian Language in the World and the upcoming Italian Festival in Hong Kong, Italia on Stage. So, don’t miss this chance to join this unique cultural exchange with great writers and get to know more about Italo Calvino!
