Hong Kong, Asia’s Premier International Contemporary Art Fair with Italian Pedigree
Organized and Directed by Tiziana Manca after the success of Arte Accessibile Milano in Geneve and Milan, LINK Artfair – Hong Kong is making its debut at the China Merchants Wharf, Kennedy Town, Western District where the ancient infuses with the modern from May 24-26 with the endorsement by Italian Consulate-General and Institute of Italian Culture in Hong Kong as well as support by Italian Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong and Macau. The first edition of LINK Artfair – Hong Kong features 40 international exhibitors, with solo show and curatorial projects in a melting pot of diverse art disciplines: Street Art, Game Art, Public Art, Edo Pop, etc. In addition to exhibitions, there will be art therapy workshop, film and photography master classes, design library, etc to encourage interaction and participation of the public to create an experience of contemporary art at 360 degrees.Some highlights of the event programs:
Design Library
A relaxing, “home” like area, furnished with designer’s furniture (on sale by the end of the show) and photography artwork, featuring art books, interesting art meetings and talks. A busy schedule that will entice the public in a relax and fun environment.
Art Therapy and Wellness Workshop on May 24
Hosted by artist and therapist, Lee du Ploy and Haruka Ostley, participants are encouraged to create their interactive collage depicting their emotional condition to abstraction in order to define their needs through art and ultimately therapeutic analysis will be achieved.
Street and Performance Art May 26
Hosted by artists Martha Collard, Haruka Ostley, Kaid Ashton, Coze and Marco Chiurato, drum jam, live art creation and various musical performances will take place at the art fair. Participating artists will share their visions and experience with the general public at the Design Library.
“Backstage” Cultural Photography Contest
During the art fair period, the general public aged over 18 who are amateur photographers are encouraged to join the “Backstage” cultural photography contest. Pictures should develop around the concept of “interactions” – the interaction between artists and the public, between artists and gallery owners, between exhibitors or between the public. Participants can submit a maximum of two unpublished photos with a participating fee of HK$50 to the “Cultural Photography Contest LINK-Artfair 2013” stand located at the entrance of the exhibition hall before 15:00 on May 26, 2013 (Sunday). Bring an Art Piece Home
You have a chance to bring an art piece home by joining LINK Artfair – Hong Kong. The art fair will feature photographer Federico Comelli Ferrari’s work on Hong Kong’s skyline. Federico Comelli Ferrari takes pictures of iconic buildings and scenarios in Hong Kong, making these three-dimensional images flat on a transparent plexiglass, allowing the architectural silhouette in the foreground which is being re-organized through the precarious overlapping photographic prints digitally toned and negative according to precise shades totally invented. It unfolds before the viewers a new reality, completely fictitious and imaginary, which nevertheless gives a flavor of Hong Kong the atmosphere of ideal space, colors, sounds and sensations perceived from the truth.
