Francesco Baccini was born in Genoa (Italy). He learned to play the piano when he was still a child, studying the great composers of the past. In his early twenties he discovered pop music and rock and this discovery was life changing for him. He then began performing in clubs of his city overcoming his natural shyness. After many attempts, in 1988, with the imposition of the absurd pseudonym of “Espressione Musica”, he published the single “Mamma, dammi i soldi”. It wasn’t until 1989 though that he published his first LP, “Cartoon”, which allowed him to establish himself among the young artists of Saint Vincent and to win the Tenco Award for best debut album. In 1990 he released “Il pianoforte non è il mio forte” containing the song “Genoa Blues”, a duet with Fabrizio De Andrè. Also in 1990, together with “Ladri di biciclette”, he won the Festivalbar with the single “Sotto questo sole”. Two years later, in 1992, the desire to oppose the climate of enforced consensus typical of the “pre-tangentopoli” period led him to create “Nomi e congnomi”, in which the targets of his humor are carefully chosen: Antonello Venditti, Giulio Andreotti, Adriano Celentano, Renato Curcio. In February 1997 he took part in the famous Italian Music Festival “Sanremo” with the song “Senza tu” and his album “Baccini and Best Friends” sees the addition of new songs and some amazing duets, including “Canzone in allegria” with Enzo Jannacci, “Mani di forbice” with Angelo Branduardi, “Mauro e Cinzia” with I Nomadi, “Margherita Baldacci” with Ferruccio Amendola and “Ragazza da marito”, dedicated to the myth of Marilyn Monroe, sung with Sabrina Ferilli. In May 1999, after a long and fruitful period of reflection, he inaugurated the second decade of his activity with “Nostra signora degli autogrill”, probably his most complete and mature album. ““Nostra signora degli autogrill” is dedicated to two friends: Fabrizio De Andrè and Tim Ambler. In the following years he released new albums and various other songs well received by the public and in 2010, Francesco Baccini celebrated twenty years of artistic career. On this occasion a biography was published by Andrea Podestà and Marzio Angiolani, as well as a documentary film presented at the Genoa Film Festival. In recent years, the Genoese singer-songwriter has also worked as an actor with two lead roles in the film Zoe (first director Giuseppe Varlotta) and in the short film Nerofuori (David Bini and Emanuela Mascherini) while still producing songs, which are internationally recognized.Free event: book at http://baccini-piano-voice-concert.eventbrite.hk
