Enzo Favata Glocal Report Quartet is an Italian music band selected to perform in the second edition of Make Music, Hong Kong!, a three-days music festival featuring both talented local and European bands.

About the Festival

Following the success of the first edition in 2018, Make Music, Hong Kong! is back with 6 European bands and 28 local bands. Make Music, Hong Kong! inherits the culture of _Fête de la Musique_ and keeps its spirit alive by a dedication to sharing the music with all. That is why we present a wide range of music genres: jazz, rock, pop, electro, classical, soul…

Alliance Française and the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau are the main organizers of the second edition of Make Music, Hong Kong! With the support of the European Union Office to Hong Kong and Macao and the participation of the Consulates General of the Member States and the Italian Cultural Institute, Make Music, Hong Kong! will promote and encourage artistic exchanges between European countries and Hong Kong.

The festival will be held on Friday 21st June (6-11pm), Saturday 22nd June (3-11pm) and Sunday 23rd June (3-10pm).

Enzo Favata, Danilo Gallo, UT Gandhi and Alfonso Santimone all come together in an expressively strong quartet that combines innovative music ideas with several compositions from Favata’s historic repertoire, where poetry, virtuosity, energy, melodiousness, and high-level jazz intertwine with milonga and tango sounds, as well as Mediterranean melodies and rhythms from Sardinia.

 

ENZO FAVATA

Renowned musician from Sardinia (Italy) internationally praised as jazz saxophonist, Enzo Favata is also author and composer of original music scores for movies, radio dramas, theater works and documentaries. His music is an original combinations of popular and avant-garde music. Favata has recorded and given performances with Dino Saluzzi, Enrico Rava, Trilok Gurtu, Miroslav Vitous, Lester Bowie, Art Ensemble of Chicago, Metropole Orkest, Dave Liebman, Guinga, Omar Sosa, Django Bates, Mulatu Astatke, among others. During his career, he has released 16 albums; one of these, “sound landscapes”, is specifically designed for museums and exhibitions. He is the art director of the International Jazz Festival “Musica sulle Bocche” (Santa Teresa Gallura, Sardinia).

 

ALFONSO SANTIMONE

Born in Ferrara, during the 90’s Alfonso Santimone was a stable member of Giulio Capiozzo Quintet. He also played and collaborated in Italy and Europe with musicians like Harold Land, Robert Wyatt, Gorge Cables, Jimmy Owens, Tony Scott, Bruce Forman, John Clark, Ares Tavolazzi and Claudio Fasoli. As a composer and arranger, he writes music for theatre, music videos and multimedia. For several years, Santimone has been working on experimental music projects (electronic music) and has been taking part in many music recordings as a composer and a performer.

 

DANILO GALLO

Danilo Gallo plays double bass, electric and acoustic bass guitar, bass balalaika and bass lute. Eclectic and versatile musician, he has taken part in diverse music projects ranging from jazz to ethnic and avant-garde music. Co-founder of the music collective “El Gallo Rojo Records”, he has coordinated several projects (included the “Guano Padano” trio project), which have brought him international awards. Danilo has been awarded best bass Italian player for the monthly magazine “Top Jazz 2010”.

 

UT GANDHI

Drummer, percussionist, and composer, Ut Gandhi has approached jazz in 1978. For eight years, he has been a member of the Enrico Rava’s quintet “Electric Five”, touring in Italy and Europe, as well as Canada and Japan. He has recorded several music projects for the German label ECM. Moreover, he collaborates on the composition of videos and soundtracks for theater works. He has also cut his own records, some of which dedicated to the Weather Report.
