Alessandro Martire – Melody of Life – Piano Concert – FREE EVENT

Alessandro Martire is a young Italian pianist and composer. Born in Como in 1992, from an early age he showed a keen interest in music. He enrolled in the International Sciences and European Institutions program at the University of Milan while continuing his music and piano studies at the Music Academy of Genoa, following an advanced course under the Italian pianist and composer Giusto Franco. In 2012 he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston in the branch of New Age Composition, performing in the final concert at the David Friend Recital Hall. From Ludovico Einaudi minimalism to David Lanz’s classical crossover, his compositions are the expression of a musical sensibility originating from the classical tradition as well as from contemporary elements, using evocative harmonies and melodies. The path taken was towards a contemplative and impressionistic style, both solo and in tandem with other musicians, putting the spotlight on Alessandro’s piano, an instrument he uses to communicate one-on-one with each listener. There is actually no definition for his music. You could call it New Age, classical crossover, contemporary instrumental, adult alternative or other names, but in the end it always comes down to this: Alessandro Martire plays Alessandro Martire’s music. As both a composer and an interpreter, his approach to music is often larger than life, breathtaking, yet accessible and down-to-earth as well. Through his music Alessandro connects in an intimate manner with his audience, tapping into their emotions, thoughts and dreams like an old friend. He often said that the desire to pursue an artistic career was born after the experience in 2009 in Canada where he performed in front of more than a thousand people at “Windsor Park”. Alessandro’s music has been used as a soundtrack for short films. The compositions “Un Ricordo dal Cuore” and “Along the river Thames” are published in Musicaurea and are distributed in many conservatories, music academies and institutes, both national and international. In a recent interview, to promote his new album “Melody of Life”, he said: “When my students use my compositions to learn, I feel an indescribable emotion.” On 27 January 2012, the Music Academy of Genoa and the Cultural Association De Musica decided to make Alessandro an Honorary Member of the Association itself for “artistic Merit”. The composition “Dolce Pensiero”, in English “Sweet Thought”, won the tenth edition of the National Piano Composition Competition in Savona. This track has been included in the repertoire of the internationally known concert pianist Eugenio de Luca. In 2013, for the release of the album “Melody of Life”, he will play his music in Italy, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Austria, Indonesia, USA and many other countries. The debut album “Melody of Life” contains 14 compositions, among which ten tracks are piano solos.Concerts schedule:24/09 – 7.30pmTsang Shiu Tim Art Hall, HK University of Science and TechnologyFree Event – First come first served (240 seats)25/09 – 8pmYouth Square Y-Theatre, 238 Chai Wan Road, Chai Wan (Next to Chai Wan MTR station)
