Maurizio Moretti is one of the best interpreters of the renowned Italian school of piano. His ability to interiorise and develop musical motives in a continuous search for the aesthetic perfection has made him a star in the most famous international concert halls. His mastery at mixing together incredible silences and powerful fortissimo and the combination of his incredible technique and amazing interpretation make him an artist able to enthuse both the public and the most demanding critics.

Born in Cagliari, he studied under Ida Allegretto and Aldo Ciccolini at the Conservatory of his town. He later studied and toured for three years with director Peter Maag, recognised worldwide as the best interpreter of Mozart’s music.

Maurizio Moretti is currently the artistic director of the International Chamber Music Festival of the Roman theatre of Nora, artistic director of the Ente Musicale di Nuoro, principal guest soloist in the Orchestra Sinfonica de L’Aquila as well art director / guest soloist of the Magdeburg Philharmonic Orchestra and music director / guest soloist of the renowned chamber orchestra I Solisti di Perugia. Maestro Moretti is also a professor of piano at the Music Conservatory of Cagliari (Sardinia).

During his career he has regularly performed in the most famous European concert halls, including those of Berlin, Vienna, Moscow, Amsterdam, Prague, Milan, Budapest, Frankfurt, Madrid, Stockholm, Grenoble and Lille. He frequently performs in Japan, North and South America, Persian Gulf and Australia. His repertoire includes solo recitals, chamber music as well as concerts for piano and orchestra. He has played with orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Moscow Symphony Orchestra, Budapest Symphony Orchestra, Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, Kiev Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonie der Nationen, European Community Chamber Orchestra, Stockholm Chamber Orchestra, I Solisti del Teatro alla Scala, the Moscow Soloists, the Salzburg Chamber Soloists, I Solisti di Perugia. He has worked with conductors such as Justus Frantz, Saulius Sondeskis, Yuri Bashmet, Piero Bellugi and Marc Tardue.

His live recording of Beethoven’s First Piano Concerto with the Philharmonie der Nationen conducted by Justus Frantz at the famous Hamburg MusikHalle in 2003 has been the perfect conclusion of an outstanding tour comprising 14 concerts in Spain and Germany and has received rave reviews. He has signed a contract with the prestigious Japanese record company Camerata Tokyo for which he recorded two CDs dedicated to Mozart’s piano concertos, two CDs for piano duo as well as CDs with music by Wagner and Listz.
