Sunday 11 April 2021, the great Italian poet Dante Alighieri is in town!

2021 marks the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri, symbol and icon of the Italian culture in the world.
Universally recognised as the “Supreme Poet”, he is the real expression of medieval culture as well as a man of great cultural importance at global level. Indeed, Dante was not only a man of letters, a poet and a writer, but also a linguist, a scholar of theology and philosophy and a politician who profoundly influenced the Italian language and literature and the Western culture with his works.
Dante Alighieri Society with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute organizes three public lectures of three of the most famous “Canti” of the Divine Comedy in three of the most iconic places in Hong Kong.
The idea is to create flash events and involve the local public to introduce the work of our beloved poet Dante Alighieri and create a moment of unexpected poetry. We will shoot short videos to capture the words of Dante in our city!
The lectures will be performed by the Italian actress Nicole Garbellini with the support of the local actor Marc Ngan.
The program of the day will be as per following details:
– 2:30 pm – PARADISO, CANTO XXXIII – Location: The Peak
– 5:30 pm – PURGATORIO, CANTO VI – Location: Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park
– 8:00 pm – INFERNO, CANTO I – Location: Sogo Department Store, Causeway Bay

About actress Nicole Garbellini:
Nicole Garbellini is the artistic director of Aurora Theatre. She has directed and acted in various productions in Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Macau and her native Italy. Nicole is also an acting coach for youngsters and adults and she enjoys bringing dramatic skills into people’s lives at any stage and age!
About actor Marc Ngan:
Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, Marc Ngan is a professional performer who received his training in Musical Theatre from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. When not attempting to impress people through his believed artistic performance, Marc can be found teaching singing and acting to the next generation.
