In 2020, for the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great Italian director Federico Fellini, the Italian Cultural Institute in Hong Kong and Campo Marzio are glad to present the screening of one of the most iconic films by Federico Fellini, "La Dolce Vita".
The director Federico Fellini hails from the region of Romagna. His films are only a milestone of Italian culture but also a point of reference for cinema around the world. Fellini is a visionary poet who is sometimes nostalgic and even a tad bitter, with an imagination always suspended between dream and reality.
La Dolce Vita, Italian for "the sweet life" or "the good life", is a 1960 comedy-drama film directed and co-written by Federico Fellini. The film follows Marcello Rubini (Marcello Mastroianni), a journalist writing for gossip magazines, over seven days and nights on his journey through the "sweet life" of Rome in a fruitless search for love and happiness.
La Dolce Vita won the Palme d'Or (Golden Palm) at the 1960 Cannes Film Festival and the Oscar for Best Costumes. The film was a worldwide box-office success and a critical success, and is now frequently regarded as one of the greatest films in world cinema.
This event is part of ITALIA MIA Festival.
