Uno, Nessuno, Pirandello – Reading and screening – FREE EVENT

With the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic

Uno, Nessuno, Pirandello is a documentary which commemorates the 150th anniversary of the birth of Luigi Pirandello (1867 – 1936) and an important highlight of this year’s Italian Language Week.

The documentary Uno, nessuno, Pirandello is made of several testimonies by famous Italian artists such as Marco Bellocchio, Dario Fo, Michele Placido, Massimo Ammanniti. It tells about Pirandello difficult life, starting from his relationship with women: from his wife (Antonietta) who soon manifested signs of madness, to Marta Abba, his muse/actress. The other chapters of this documentary tell about the story of his Nobel Prize, his “Sicilianity”, his theater scripts, his relationship with cinema, his adherence to fascism and his death. Luigi Pirandello died on 10 December 1936, exactly two years after receiving the Nobel Prize.

Directed by Didi Gnocchi and Matteo Moneta, 2014, 60 min.
