20th Week of the Italian Language in the World

The Week of the Italian Language in the World is an event that has been held every year since 2001 in the third week of October. Organized by the diplomatic-consular network and the Italian Cultural Institutes together with MiBACT, MUR, the main language promotion partners in Italy (Accademia della Crusca, Dante Alighieri Society) and the Government of the Swiss Confederation, the Week has over time become one of the most important initiatives dedicated to the celebration of the Italian language in the world. Since its inception, this event has annually received the High Patronage from the Presidency of the Republic.

The 20th edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World, scheduled from 19 to 25 October 2020, will be entitled “Italian between word and image: graffiti, illustrations, comics“. The planned events and activities will in fact focus on those expressive forms that enhance the Italian language through image, with a particular emphasis on comics, graphic novels and more generally the publishing industry for children and adolescents.
