Duo Kalámia

Laura Venditti: soprano saxophone

Fabrizio Causio: accordion

Fabrizio Causio and Laura Venditti founded Duo Kalámia in 2016 with the idea of creating and spreading a wide range of music, from Renaissance to contemporary, by offering a multifaceted programme.

In December 2009 Laura Venditti completed her Master of Music degree with Distinction (saxophone) at the Music Conservatory “Ottorino Respighi” (Latina) under the guidance of M° Daniele Caporaso and M° Cristiano Carrano. She then improved her skills with M° Claude Delangle, Francesco Salime, Enzo Filippetti and Elisabetta Capurso.

During her career she won several competitions such as “Chamber Music and Wind Instruments Soloists” (city of Magliano Sabina); “VIII National Music Competition” (city of Riccione); “Nuovi Orizzonti” (city of Arezzo).

She performs both as a soloist and a chamber musician with a few ensembles, taking part in various festivals and events in Italy and abroad. Since 2009 Laura has been a member and the orchestral leader of the saxophone quartet South Zone Saxophone Quartet with which she performed in several concerts.

Since 2012 she has been collaborating with the musician Raffaele Riccardi; their ElectroSaxDuo has been performing in various electronic music concerts and festivals in the province of Latina (Italy).

In 2014 Laura released her first album “ELECTROSAX”, a mix of saxophone and electronic music, distributed by the American label “4Tay inc.”.

In November 2015 she performed as a soloist at the Italian Cultural Institutes of Sydney and Melbourne.

She is currently teaching saxophone at the Conservatory of Latina.

Fabrizio Causio graduated with Distinction (accordion) under the guidance of M° Patrizia Angeloni at the Music Conservatory “Ottorino Respighi” (Latina).

He attended seminars and masterclasses with H. Noth, S. Hussong, M. Rantanen, K. Olczak, I. Alberdi, I. Paterno, G. Dellarole and M. Luoma. He studied with M° Hans Maier at the “Staatliche Hochschule für Musik” in Trossingen (Germany) and completed a training course at Latina Music Conservatory as a teaching assistant.

He not only plays as a soloist, but also collaborates with several musicians in different groups: AccoENSEMBLE Quartet, E-motion Trio, Duo Kalámia; he also performs together with the mezzosoprano Eleonora Cipolla Santoro. Fabrizio has played in concerts both in Italy – “Forme del Suono Music Festival” and “Early Music Festival” (city of Latina), “Contemporaneamente Fisarmonica Festival” (city of Rome) – and abroad – Italian Cultural Institute of Budapest, “Suono Italiano Festival” (Vatican), Montmagny (Canada).

In 2015 M° Causio won the 4th prize of “Premio Abbado” (accordion), promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Italy. In 2013 with AccoENSEMBLE Quartet he won the 1st prize at “The World of Accordion – Chamber Music Section” (city of Castelfidardo).
