A programme of video projections and “foto-suoni” created by the Duo Alterno to pay homage to the centenary of the death of Francesco Paolo Tosti, one of the most representative Italian composers of chamber songs.
Among more than five hundred romances, this concert proposes three particularly famous ones (Ideale, Non t’amo più, L’ultima canzone) and two complete cycles of masterpieces of his last creative phase: Due piccoli notturni (1911) and Consolazione (1916), based on texts by Gabriele D’Annunzio.

To complete the programme, three short compositions by Giacomo Puccini – Tosti regularly checked his compositions before being published by Casa Ricordi – and by two other authors: Azio Corghi – one of the best living Italian composers – and Riccardo Piacentini.

The Duo Alterno will perform a “Notturno”, recently composed by Corghi (…respiro il tuo respiro…, 2015) together with Sappho verses translated by Ilaria Dagnini. An original Piacentini’s ad hoc work for piano will be also performed with video projections and “foto-suoni” recorded en plein air in the native places of Tosti and inspired by the eponymous duet (1898): Aimez quand on vous aime! (2016). The programme is a heartfelt tribute to Sir Francesco Paolo Tosti, where past and present are strongly bounded, and highlight masterpiece works of rare and valuable performance.
