An Opera in 4 Acts
Performed in Italian with Chinese and English Surtitles
A Musica Viva Production
A tale of rivalry, vengeance and fateful love, Il Trovatore has been immensely loved by audiences since Giuseppe Verdi premiered the opera in 1853. Set against medieval Spain, it is a story about the troubadour Manrico and his rival Count di Luna, having loved the same woman Leonora. Twisted fate brings these two opponents together in duel and, eventually, unveils the shared bloodhood in tragedy. With numerous heart wrenching melodies, fiery orchestrations and extravagant arias, this is Verdi’s most powerful opera during his golden era.
Directed by Lo Kingman and conducted by Lio Kuokman, this production of Musica Viva will see collaboration between world-renowned stars and home-grown talents, bringing alive the legendary troubadours, nobles and gypsies on Hong Kong stage.
