On 8 April, the Consulate General of Italy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Hong Kong organised a special evening dedicated to Italian philosopher and historian Benedetto Croce.

The event, entitled ‘A Night with Benedetto Croce’, included the screening of the docufilm ‘Un Natale a casa Croce’ by director Pupi Avati, which explores the life and thought of the famous intellectual, offering an intimate look at his personal life and highlighting his commitment to freedom and culture.

The screening was followed by a discussion involving Professor Benedetta Craveri, writer, critic and President of the Croce Foundation, and Dr. Massimiliano Lacertosa, Research Fellow at the Chinese University of Hong Kong: a unique opportunity for the local audience to deepen their knowledge of one of the most influential figures of 20th-century Italian culture. In the presence of the Italian Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Massimo Ambrosetti and the public audience, Professor Craveri, Benedetto Croce’s niece, shared personal memories and insights on the Foundation’s role in preserving and disseminating the philosopher’s thought.
