STATE OF MATTER – solo exhibition by Danilo Giannoni

Brief quote of the curator Carolina about Danilo Giannoni’s solo exhibition:
“It’s much more than Ebru. In Danilo Giannoni’s work, I can see the
union of the places where he lived: Hong Kong, Istanbul, New York and,
of course, Italy. It has so many origins that is as if he had none.
There is circularity and a fluidity that recalls the continuous
unfolding of the world, the movement of the earth. His works are solid
and liquid at the same time. They are works of art, and this means that
have something immortal, can stop sensations in the time making them
precious and crystallizing them forever; so they are solid, very solid,
so much that I like to compare his round pieces to gems out coming from
the walls. But they are also liquid, because born from the water and
water themselves. Looking at his works, you can mentally trace the
liquid movement the color has made, understanding how much is important
the collaboration between the artist’s will and the will of the water.
This assertion may seem excessive, but that’s exactly what I think of
Danilo’s art: that he has so much respect for the matter to let the
water and the color fully express their nature, collaborating with him,
not only obeying. He guides, directs, supervises a meeting that, at the
end, is always spontaneous, unique, unrepeatable. Nor Danilo Giannoni
could copy Danilo Giannoni, because he works with life, matter, along
with the world. If you look closely in his art, without moving your gaze
for a few minutes, you will enter in its world, experiencing that each
of his pieces seem to still move and breathe, palpitate. All of them
have something organic and mystical at the same time. They are windows
into which overlook to have a pure, profound and unique vision of the
existence.”
