RobertoPorroni is one of the best known Italian concert artists. He has won a number
of youth competitions and completed his advanced studies with Julian Bream and
John Williams. He was invited to Spain by Andrés Segovia, marking the beginning
of a brilliant international performing career throughout Europe, North and
South America, Middle East, Far East (Korea, Japan, Singapore, Vietnam),
Australia and South Africa playing for some of the most important concert
societies (the Musikverein in Vienna, La Scala in Milan, the Fairfield Hall in
London, the Philarmonia in St. Petersburg, the World Bank Auditorium in
Washington, the MacMillan Theatre in Toronto, the Simon Fraser University in
Vancouver, the Musikhalle in Hamburg, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the Palacio de
Queluz in Lisbon, the Ateneo in Madrid, the Chopin Academy in Warsaw, Munhwalbo
Hall in Seoul, Oji Hall in Tokyo, ALTI Auditorium in Kyoto, Melba Hall in Melbourne,
Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires).
He
has also participated in major festivals such as the Dubrovnik Summer Festival,
the Berliner Festtage, the Gewandhaus Festtage, the Festival d’été in Québec
City and the Miami Festival.
He
often collaborates with the Italian Radio Television, preparing programmes on
guitar music while also recording programmes for several foreign broadcasting
corporations.
In
1996 he founded the “Ensemble Duomo”, with which he performs in many
countries all around the world. He is artistic director of “I concerti
della domenica” in Milan – Italy and of the Festival “Musica e
Natura” in Switzerland.
Roberto
Porroni earned his degree in Music History at the Università Statale di Milano.
Luigi
Arciuli has studied in Milan with G. Montrucchio. In 1980 he was awarded the
First Prize at the Stresa Competition starting an intense musical activity. In
1984 he won the audition at Teatro alla Scala and soon after the audition at
Italian Symphony Orchestra of RAI in Milan.
He
attended advanced master classes with the world’s greatest flutists, R. Guiot,
G. Gilbert and J.P. Rampal, who appreciated the quality of his sound.
He
completed his studies with P.L. Graf and M. Larrieu graduating as
“Virtuoso” at the Conservatory of Geneva in 1990. He has an active
performing career playing both as a soloist and in chamber music.
He
is
Professor at Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI in Italy and also
the flutist of the quintet Ensemble Duomo, performing in Europe,
America, Australia
and the Far East in the most prestigious concert halls.
