“Fare Cinema 2022” Film Festival

A week dedicated to the professions of cinema and the promotion of the Italian film industry in the world.

The fifth edition of Fare Cinema will be held from 13 to 19 June. The festival was launched in 2018 with a series of initiatives to promote the Italian cinema and film industry in the world by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the network of Italian Embassies, Consulates and Cultural Institutes, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, ANICA, Agenzia ICE, Istituto Luce – Cinecittà, Italian Film Commissions and the Academy of Italian Cinema – David di Donatello Awards.

In 2022, Fare Cinema once again offers a great variety of content which is accessible online for free until June 19, on the portal ”Italiana” and on the “MyMovies” platform.

Italian Renaissance” is a series of conversations with authors representing the renewed attention dedicated to contemporary Italian cinema by international festivals and specialized critics. Produced with the Fondazione Cinema per Roma, the series is accompanied by the viewing of short films by each of the authors involved.

Thanks to the Accademia del Cinema Italiano and ANICA, “Italian Screens” presents the five finalist titles in the “Best Short Film” category of the David di Donatello 2022 Awards.

On the centenary of Vittorio Gassman’s birth, a tribute is paid to this emblematic figure of Italian cinema, with a specially produced interview with Alessandro Gassmann and the viewing of the documentary “I’m Gassman! Vittorio king of comedy” by Fabrizio Corallo.

Another important anniversary celebrated this year is the anniversary of Pier Paolo Pasolini: for the occasion, the Cineteca di Bologna produced “Pasolini 100“, a series of original video-introductions to Pasolini’s films, which can also accompany the film screenings in theatres.

In addition to streaming, this year Fare Cinema systematically resumes live screenings in various countries around the world, accompanied by meetings and interviews with authors, experts and operators in the sector. In this context, the festival “La Biennale di Venezia – Biennale College Cinema: Fare Cinema” will bring abroad four films by emerging directors, winners of the Biennale College Cinema programme of the Venice Biennale.

Fare Cinema 2022: an edition in which Italian cinema is presented in its various facets, thanks to a programme that ranges from great authors of the past to the artistic trends that have successfully emerged on the scene in recent years, up to the most recent talents of contemporary productions.
