The Italian Cultural Institute Hong Kong is honored to announce that ROSSANA TOMASSI GOLKAR, pianist, defined by the critics “Callas at the Piano” will perform “Norma” by Bellini in the form of a concerto for piano, written exclusively for her by Maestro Luis Bacalov in 2009. The Opera was performed in 2011 in Boston and New York with the Boston Symphony Orchestra;

Norma” invokes love and peace on earth through the sounds of an instrument, the piano, who is the protagonist and interprets the drama. It encapsulates the modernity of a work that stages the power of love, passion, sin, forgiveness and human despair: the sublimation of timeless feelings, without boundaries or epochs. Thus the story of a druid priestess, mother, lover and Gallic woman, comes to represent the archetype and the compendium of a spectrum of human and universal emotions, from courage to fragility, from desire to heroism, from anger to forgiveness. Pure feelings that from ancient Rome flow through the work of Bellini and the eighteenth century reaching us, intact, deep and current as only love can do.

Rossana Tomassi Golkar graduated at a very young age with top marks from the Conservatorio di S. Cecilia in Rome and L’Aquila, where she studied piano, composition and conducting. She is currently a piano teacher at the U. Giordano Conservatory in Foggia. Since 1988, she has been playing all over the world, at institutions and traditional theatres. She has performed in Europe, Japan, Australia, Argentina and Mexico. She has toured the USA and Canada.
