Conceived and directed by Francesca Foscarini and Cosimo Lopalco, Italy – Museum of Elsewhere is a contemporary dance, performance and installation art project on the themes of the contemporary museum and the relationship between architectural space and the body. The artists, through the exploration of the historical-cultural identity of Italy, measure themselves with the creation of a singular “museum” where the living body, in its intrinsic irreproducibility, becomes a work of art. The collection of works, exhibited and staged in the historical Villa Giulia in Verbania (Italy), explore Italian cultural history thanks to several suggestions: the cinema of Pasolini and Fellini, the extraordinary art of Antonio Ligabue, Venice with its light, Italian dialects and traditions. The performance is complemented by the valuable insight of the Chinese artists ErGao and Noel Pong. The encounter between the Asian and Italian artists was possible in the context of the international project Crisol – creative processes, promoted by the special funding Boarding Pass Plus by Italian Ministry of Culture.
In the occasion of Italia Mia, the movie (video-documentary) of the project, directed by Ana Shametaj, will be presented for the first time and it will be followed by a live-streaming conversation with the artists.
The project is promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation – General Directorate for the Promotion of the Country System, in collaboration with the General Entertainment Directorate of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, within the framework of the project “Vivere all’italiana sul palcoscenico”.
