Bringing together Europe’sfinest period instrument players, Baroque music ensemble Il Giardino Armonico first came to prominence with definitive
performances of Vivaldi’s concerti.
Their ground-breaking recording of The Four Seasons and many others of
their CDs have received top recording industry prizes including Diapason d’Or,
Gramophone Award and Choc du Monde de la Musique prize. The group’s involvement
with Cecilia Bartoli, who enchanted audiences in the 39th HKAF, on two
Grammy-winning recordings, The Vivaldi Album and Sacrificium, has brought them
even greater celebrity.
Bearing out their reputation as today’s unrivalled Vivaldi
interpreters, their concerts feature Vivaldi in context with several Italian
and German contemporaries, including Handel, Biber and Telemann, exploring
music for strings and two early woodwind instruments, the chalumeau and
flautino.
Led by founder and distinguished recorder player, Giovanni Antonini, Il
Giardino Armonico blow away early music cobwebs with their stylishness, feisty
sense of enjoyment and perfect playing.
