Italian Cultural Institute is supporting the Gala Concert of this year’s Hong Kong International Flute Festival for 2024 is the 100th anniversary of the death of Italian composer Giacomo Puccini.
Flute is a very “vocalised” instrument in terms of its playing technique and lots of its repertoire. It is physiologically the closest instrument to singing. There are also a number of works inspired by operas and arias, or vice versa, inspired by the “singing” quality of the flute. Coincidentally, this year is the 100th anniversary of the death of Italian composer Giacomo Puccini, known for his operas and arias. This year’s gala concert is dedicated to embrace this lovely characteristic of the flute. Let’s sing with the flute with local and international musicians!
