From Milan’s legendary lyrictheatre, La Scala Ballet returns to Hong Kong
in top form with a huge corps, a stellar cast and a classic from its
repertoire, Giselle.
A masterpiece of which audiences never tire – sumptuous,
beautiful and melancholy – Giselle features in the repertoire of every leading
company with a compelling, universal and eternal tale of unrequited love and
love betrayed. Its portrayal of human emotions from joy to despair, is arguably
the most moving of any ballet.
For some 230 years La Scala Ballet has been producing
magical experiences. Its spectacular Giselle, restaged by Yvette Chauviré, is
considered one of the most authentic interpretations of Jean Coralli’s and
Jules Perrot’s original choreography. Adolphe Adam’s melody-filled score
movingly portrays the elation of young love and the dejection of the broken
heart in this classic Romantic ballet full of memorable dances.
