Fabio Montomoli is recognized by critics as one of the bestinterpreters of the international scene remarking his beautiful sound, power,
penetration and wide variety of timbres.
He graduates with top marks at “S.Cecilia” Academy of Music
in Rome with
the Music Master Carlo Carfagna. He attends the regular course “Mozarteum” in Salzburg studying
Klassische Guitar with the Music Masters Eliot Fisk and Joaquin Clerch-Diaz and
Barockmusik with the Music Master Nicolaus Harnoncourt. He studies counterpoint
and composition with the Music Master Francesco Iannitti Piromallo.
First prize winner in 7 of the most important national
competitions and winner of the International “Mauro Giuliani” Guitar
Competition in ’92.
Subsequently he starts his concert career which brings him
to play in the most important concert seasons all over Italy and abroad, tour
in Japan (Tokyo, Hiroshima, Hayama, Kamakura), tour in the USA (Miami, Boston,
Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, New York), tour in Mexico (Morelia, Paztquaro,
Zitaquaro, Ixtlauacha, Zamora, la Piedad, Aguascalientes, Mexico City,
Queretaro, Pachuca), tour in Finland (Tampere, Helsinki, Turku), tour in Greece
(Athens,Volos), tour in Germany (Berlin, Colon, München, Nuremberg, Heidelberg,
Wolfsburg, Deggendorf), tour in Spain (Granada, Valencia, Linares, Girona),
Moscow, Salzburg, Vienna, Prague, Pilsen, Malta,
Minorca, Beirut, Tyro, Bitola.), tour in Kazakistan (Astana , Almaty, Karaganda, Kokshetau). Tour in Venezuela (Caracas, San
Felipe), Belgrado, tour in Argentina (Buenos Aires, Rosario, Bahia Blanca,
Trenquelauque, Gualeguaychù, San Miguel.), Santiago de Chile, tour in Camerun
(Douala, Yahoundè).
Fabio Montomoli is frequently invited to some of the most
important international guitar festivals “Andrès Segovia Ciudad de Linares” (Spain), Hersbruck guitar festival (Germany), Tokyo
guitar festival (Japan), “Volos” Winter Guitar festival (Greece),
Turku guitar festival (Finland), Morelia
guitar festival (Mexico)
etc.
He constantly collaborates with several composers who have
dedicated their own work to him: The Music Master Fabrizio Festa dedicated the
suite “Paesaggi” for solo guitar (1997). The Music Master Francesco Iannitti
Piromallo dedicated the concert in A major for guitar and orchestra (2002), the
sonata in D major for solo guitar (2007) and the suite “La Porta del sole” for
clarinet and guitar dedicated to the duet Giovanni Lanzini- Fabio
Montomoli.(2009).
He has been a protagonist in many radio broadcasts: “Radio
Vaticana” with a live broadcast on the classical channel, Radio 2, Radio
Helsinki “La Rondine” with a live national concert, Radio Rete Toscana
Classical etc.
He records for the record company “SAM classic” in Lari (PI)
where, among his CDs as soloist, various first absolute recordings and
transcriptions of important instrumental operas stand out (Turina: La oraciòn
del torero op.34, Cinco danzas gitanas op. 55 ect) all published in the
collection personally directed and taken care of by “SAM publications”.
Very active as a teacher, he holds Master Classes all over
the world in the most important guitar Festivals.
Since 2003, he is the artistic director and founder of the
“International Guitar Festival Palmiero Giannetti” in Grosseto and of the “International Guitar Festival
Alvaro Mantovani” in Follonica (Italy).
Fabio Montomoli has been playing a Steve Connor’s Guitar since
2010 and Antonino Scandurra’s guitar since 1990.
