place on Friday 29th of May 2015 at 8:00 pm at the Hong Kong Jockey Club
Amphitheater, HKAPA WanChai, and it will be performed by Ms. Seunghee Lee, world acclaimed clarinetist, and Mr. Andrea Morricone, world acclaimed composer and conductor and Winner of 2 Golden Globe Awards-Italy.
This historic concert marks the Maestro Andrea Morricone’s First Ever Performance in Asia. Timeless Masterpieces of Movie music programme to include:

Andrea Morricone, Composer and Conductor
At the age of fourteen Andrea knew he was destined to follow
in the musical footsteps of his father, distinguished composer and
conductor Ennio Morricone. Perhaps it can be said that Andrea is
evolving a new definition of “maestro” for the 21st century. After all,
it is rather rare that a classical composer and conductor can reach
across multiple genres, from classical to rock, with as much brilliance,
ease and ingenuity as he does. As a prolific, masterful composer his
repertoire is vast, varied and formidable – qualities prized and sought
after by studios. Each stunning piece reflects a mastery of principles
and techniques and exhibits a refreshing flair for originality. His
repertoire includes extensive works for a variety of Chamber &
Orchestral ensembles including choir, orchestra and soloists.
Andrea refers to his music as being quintessentially cinematic,
big themes for the big screen, a Morricone hallmark. His impressive
filmography includes over twenty Italian and international film scores
including the “Love Theme” from Cinema Paradiso for which he and his
father received the coveted BAFTA award for Best Original Film Score.
Other of his notable film scores include “L’Industriale” (The
Entrepreneur) which earned him a Golden Globe in 2012 and A Slum
Symphony which was lauded as Best Product Factual at the Rome Fiction
Fest in 2010.
Andrea’s dedication to his music and his passion for musical
innovation are legendary. In December 2013, he conducted all new
compositions in Concerto di Natale (Christmas Concert) in Rome, Italy.
In April of 2014 he took to the stage again for A Spring Evening Concert
– USA Premier in Santa Monica, California that officially launched what
is expected to be the first in a series of U.S. concerts showcasing his
groundbreaking compositions and inimitable conducting style.
His sincere desire to share and support the universal power of
music is evident most recently in his decision to join EMMA for Peace
(Euro Mediterranean Music Academy), an international, non-profit
organization of world-class musicians, universities, institutions and
philanthropic foundations dedicated to global music, education and
cultural diplomacy in the Mediterranean and Middle East regions. When
asked about what lies ahead, he is exuberant.

Seunghee Lee, Clarinet
Praised by music critics, clarinetist Seunghee Lee has been
reviewed as a “brilliant clarinetist” by the Fanfare Magazine, and the
Clarinet Magazine has recognized her as “an uncompromising soloist
destined to be an upcoming contender of top stature”. Upon release of
her debut album “Brava” with Summit Records, Seunghee was featured as
one of the “Top 30 Classical Stars Under 30″ by KDFC, San Francisco’s
classical radio station. Her long awaited second album Embrace,
released by Summit Records in 2011, beautifully showcases the clarinet’s
versatility as Lee aims to broaden the clarinet’s repertoire by making
premiere recordings of some of the most heart-warming classical
compositions originally written for voice, strings and piano. Embrace
climbed up HMV Classical Charts in Hong Kong to number 4. Hidden
Treasures, her latest independently released under her own label in
2014, achieved even greater heights by climbing to number 2 on Hong Kong
Records’ Top 10 Classical Charts and was featured as “CD of the Week”
in classical radio stations as KDFC (San Francisco) WSCL (Maryland) and
at Fine Music Radio in Cape Town, South Africa. Also a passionate and
highly skilled golfer, Seunghee (a.k.a Sunny Kang) spoke at Tedx Hong
Kong about the surprising similarities between golf and music, and the
mental challenges of viewing both skills through the lens of a
perfectionist. The entire proceeds from this concert will support the following Charities, all registered in Hong Kong:
Arts with Disability Association – This Association
promotes equal opportunities for people with disabilities, to allow them
to have access to and excel in the arts. ‘Arts with Disability
Association’ advocates an inclusive society through the arts.
