The Italian Cultural Institute is glad to present the performance, organized by Parsons Music, of talented young pianist Andrea Molteni in Hong Kong.

Bach’s Toccata in C minor, BWV 911 opens the concert with energy and formal clarity, highlighting the virtuosic and improvisatory character of Baroque keyboard writing. Beethoven’s “Waldstein” Sonata marks a decisive turning point in piano music, with its heroic drive, expansive architecture, and a radically new approach to sound and motion.

The second half is devoted to Brahms, beginning with the Waltzes op. 39 in the composer’s own transcription for solo piano, works of refined elegance that combine dance-like simplicity with deep lyrical introspection. The programme concludes with the Scherzo op. 4, a powerful and dramatic early work whose virtuosity and emotional intensity already reveal the distinctive strength of Brahms’s musical voice.
