The Italian Artists: Alice Pasquini
Alice Pasquini is a multifaceted artist whose work spans urban surfaces, galleries, and museums across more than one hundred cities worldwide. Constantly on the move, Alice’s preferred canvas is the city wall, where she seamlessly blends street art with painting, illustration, and set design. Her artistic exploration encompasses themes of feminine vitality and the three-dimensional possibilities of her medium, transitioning effortlessly between urban explorations and installations utilizing found materials.
Originally from Rome, her works have been exhibited in renowned institutions such as the Museo Italiano in Melbourne, the Saatchi Gallery in London, and the MACRO Contemporary Art Museum in Rome. In addition to her gallery exhibitions, Alice has worked with international brands such as Canada Goose, Canon, Nike, Range Rover, Toyota, and Microsoft. Her illustrations have also graced the pages of graphic novels, including “Vertigine” published by Rizzoli in 2011.
Alice’s artistic influence extends beyond her creations; she has taught workshops, collaborated on public art projects, and engaged with cultural institutes around the world, including Australia, Vietnam, Singapore, Argentina, Uruguay, Canada, and Brasil. Notably, she was appointed as the director of CVTA’ Streetfest in Italy in 2016, further solidifying her impact on the international art scene.
Her accomplishments have garnered attention from major publications such as The New York Times International, The Wall Street Journal, and Vanity, earning her a place in the prestigious Treccani Italian Encyclopedia in 2016.
In 2019, “Crossroads, a Glimpse Into the Life of Alice Pasquini,” the first anthology of her work, was published by DRAGO Publishing, cementing her status as a leading figure in contemporary art.
The Italian Artists: UNO
UNO is an artist who lives and works in Rome from the early 2000s. His artistic production is characterised by the use of various techniques such as decoupage, collage, the application of stencils and painting with spray cans. Classic tools that belong to Street Art. By assimilating and actualizing the lesson of Warhol, Debord, and Rotella, through endless repetition and frequent use of bright colors, UNO plays with the advertising techniques and transforms them into a new experience. Focusing on the face of a famous chocolate advertising, he turns it into an icon of the possible revolution of the individual against the mass society. A face freed from the role assigned to it by its creators and that paradoxically becomes the ideal tool for a critique of the advertising practice itself. Reinforcing this message his decoupages with torn paper and stencil-collages, that remind us of the individual and his uniqueness, continually manipulated until lost in the multiplicity of society.
