The Italian Cultural Institute Hong Kong is glad to announce that the Italian artist BLUEM will open this year’s edition of Make Music Hong Kong!
BLUEM is the recording project of Chiara Floris, producer and visual artist from Sardinia, Italy.
After moving to the UK to study music, BLUEM self-released her first English-sung EP, “Picolina“, in 2018. Following three years of experimentation, the artist chose to take a deep dive into archaic sentiments with her 2021 project “Notte“, reverting back to her mother-tongue for much of the project, and receiving widespread praise in the Italian music scene for its thoughtful exploration of instinctive and primordial love.
Her latest project, “nou”, released May 2023, opens up to vast landscapes of sound through pop songs and instrumentals, keeping its centre in the complex thematic of femininity.
ABOUT MAKE MUSIC, HONG KONG!
Make Music, Hong Kong! music festival wants to celebrate the Fête de la Musique (World Music Day) which originated in France. The national music festival in France is widely celebrated on 21st June around the world, the day of the summer solstice in the Northern hemisphere. Make Music, Hong Kong! showcases a mix of amateur and professional artists of local or foreign origins. Every year, local bands and half a dozen European bands are presented to the Hong Kong public in remarkable cultural venues. Previous festival locations include Tai Kwun, Fringe Club and West Kowloon Cultural District, all of which are historical and cultural landmarks of the city. This year, which marks the 8th edition of the Music Festival, 5 European bands and 20 bands from Hong Kong will perform during the 2-day festival.
