The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) offers grants in favour of foreign citizens living abroad and Italian citizens living abroad (IRE) for the 2025-2026 academic year, in order to foster international cooperation in cultural, scientific and technological fields, to promote the Italian language and culture and to support Italy’s economic system in the world.
Grants are offered to complete study, research and/or training programmes at public or legally recognized Italian educational institutions. Grants are compatible exclusively with the onsite attendance of academic courses on the Italian territory. The list of eligible countries can be found on the website Study in Italy: https://studyinitaly.esteri.it/.
The following types of scholarships are available with specific age limits:
- Master’s Degree programmes (not older than 28 years old);
- Higher Education for Fine Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM) programmes (not older than 28 years old);
- PhD programmes (not older than 30 years old);
- Research projects under academic supervision (Progetti in co-tutela) (not older than 40 years old);
- Italian language and culture advanced courses (not older than 28 years old);
- Bachelor’s Degree (Laurea Triennale, 1° ciclo) or Single Cycle Degree (Laurea magistrale a ciclo unico) programmes (not older than 23 years old).
Candidates should apply exclusively through the “Study in Italy” platform. Online applications must be received at the latest by 2 p.m. (C.E.T.) on 16th May 2025.
