This year’s European Union Film Festival was opened by a speech by Mr. Thomas Gnocchi, the Head of the EU office in Hong Kong and for the third year in a row, the first screening was a Ukrainian movie to demonstrate the support for Ukraine. As far as Italy was concerned, “La Chimera” by Alice Rohrwacher was shown in two different screenings across Hong Kong. The movie, that was selected to compete for the Palme D’or at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, won the AFCAE Art House Cinema Award at the same Festival and was named one of the top 5 international films of 2023 by the National Board of Review in the USA.
