After the success of Cine Italiano! – Cinema Italian Style in Hong Kong last September, the 4th edition brings you the best line-up of recent
Italian cinema with award-winning directors as well as the most engaging
and charismatic actors. The event is co-presented by the Hong Kong
International Film Festival Society, with Istituto Luce Cinecittá,
Italian Cultural Institute in Hong Kong and Consulate General of Italy
in Hong Kong.
This year’s Opening Film is An Italian Name, the uproarious family
comedy about a pleasant dinner party where all hell breaks loose when a
newborn’s name is revealed. Other films include the sensationally
gripping crime drama Black Souls, the biographical tale of the greatest
Italian poet of the 19th Century Leopardi, the zany farce Money Buddies,
the exhilarating and hilarious comedy The Legendary Giulia and Other
Miracles, the mesmerizing war drama Greenery Will Bloom Again directed
by master filmmaker Ermanno Olmi, the “Superhero Italian Style” The
Invisible Boy by Oscar-winning auteur Gabriele Salvatores, and the
bourgeois familial drama The Dinner. We hope to provide a great
opportunity for Hong Kong audience to experience the great tradition of
