Organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Hong Kong, supported by the Italian Cultural Institute in Hong Kong and powered by HERE Fashion Hub, the Italian Design Pavilion aims to promote the excellence of Italian design education in Asia. The initiative combines the efforts from the public and private sectors to bring together 10 leading Italian design schools and associations in a digital space.
The Italian Design Pavilion’s main goals are to introduce the excellence of Italian education in the design field to the Asian audience, mainly targeting students and professionals, and to present some of the key Italian design business associations to Asian companies to make their process to tap into the Italian market smoother.
Strongly committed to replicate and improve the rewarding experience of the DesignInspire 2019 edition, the Consulate General of Italy and HERE Fashion Hub aim to empower Italian design education and culture abroad. Especially in the challenging times the entire world is currently facing, the Italian Design Pavilion is an international showcase bringing concrete benefits in terms of business and networking to Italian post-secondary educational institutions and to the Hong Kong community of students and designers.
As the focus is on education, some of the most prestigious Italian design schools such as Istituto Europeo di Design, Milano Fashion Institute, IULM – Libera Università di Lingue e Comunicazione, NABA Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, Scuola Politecnica di Design, LUM School of Management and Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (ModaCult project) will join the Italian Design Pavilion to promote their unique courses taught in English.
The Italian Cultural Institute is also promoting the project Design Made in Hong Kong 2020-2021. The cultural association 5Vie Milano will produce a series of webinars to talk about the design works developed by the students of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Design Institute and Hong Kong Baptist University. The project is curated by the design consultancy studio Mr. Lawrence to be presented in an exhibition in Hong Kong and at the Milan Design Week 2021
Italian Design Pavilion is a programme of Italia Mia Festival.
