The Week of Italian Language in the World is an annual celebration of Italian language and creativity around the world. This year’s theme of its 22nd edition is “The Italian Language and the Youth”.
Italian Cultural Institute Hong Kong proudly presents 4 celebration events focusing on popular culture:
- 17th October: Italian Language and Rap Music: A Chat with Roberto He (aka. Maggio)
Italy-born Chinese rapper Roberto He shares with us his use of Italian language as expression of self and creativity. - 20th October: Screening of the film “Clash of Civilizations Over an Elevator in Piazza Vittorio” adapted from the book by Amara Lakhous
Screening of the movie that won Italy’s prestigious Flaiano prize, shows the cultural experience as an immigrant and the conflicts. The Algerian-born author Amara Lakhous will have a sharing session after the screening. - 21st October: Screening of the film “Dea” by Alberto Gerosa
Adapted from the workshop with foreign domestic helpers in Hong Kong, Dea shows the difficulties faced by foreign domestic helpers and shines light on their welfare, which could be overlooked. - 24th October: The Italian language week – “Lei così amata/ She so beloved” a conversation with Melania G. Mazzucco
A lecture by the renowned writer Melania G. Mazzucco, on her book, and the stories of extraordinary women who shaped the lives of many.
